I was just sitting here thinking about what I could write about that would be interesting and clever. Guess what I could not think of one single clever, witty or interesting thing. Of course that is completely normal, because my mind does have a mind of its own.
Now I can just here the laughter at that comment. I think the subconscious is the mind of the mind. Otherwise you would have to control the subconscious mind in some way. However, as far as I know there is no way to control ones subconscious in any way.
Usually when we give up trying to consciously solve a problem or come up with something to write about, which is one of the most difficult problems that a person has ever tried to solve, the subconscious meind takes over and solves the problem.
I know you have heard someone say “let me sleep on it and I will get back to you”. What they were really saying was “let me give my subconscious a chance to work on the problem and maybe it will come up with the solution”. In other words let my mind’s mind work on the problem for me and come up with the solution. When that happens I will get back to you with the solution that my mind’s mind has provided for all of us.
Well my mind’s mind has just shut down for the night so I will quit tapping on this keyboard before you find out that I am useless without it.
Your ‘subconscious’ mind is less ‘conscious’ simply because it works uninhibited by the restraints you instinctively force upon your conscious mind, sometimes to crippling extents. Your subconscious is simply an uncensored processing unit; more efficient at expressing thoughts than your voluntary brain resources. Too bad it is so independent you have little control over it, and it remains hardly accessible – unless unlocked by deep sleep, or drugs…
